The Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), Women’s Bureau, and Wage & Hour Division, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) are hosting a brown bag and networking event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Equal Pay Act.

Marking Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, acting Secretary of Labor Seth D. Harris on May 29 will host “Minimum Wage for Maximum Impact,” a panel discussion about AAPI workers earning at or near the current federal minimum wage, and how a boost in the federal minimum wage would benefit them and their families.
Since the president’s State of the Union address in February, the acting secretary and other Labor Department officials have held more than two dozen round-table discussions with workers around the country on President Barack Obama’s proposal to raise the minimum wage and ensure that hard work leads to a decent living.
This discussion will take place at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Frances Perkins Building in Washington, D.C.

The Baltimore District Office will host a seminar for construction contractors about their equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and recordkeeping obligations. The event will also emphasize the importance of effective outreach and recruitment efforts by contractors. Community-based recruitment sources will provide information on how they can assist contractors with their outreach efforts, supporting diversity and an inclusive work force in the construction trades.
