Aug 16 OFCCP - Workplace Accommodations, Omaha, NE.
The Omaha District Office will provide a presentation on the requirements of Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, emphasizing workplace accomodations.
Aug 16 Understanding Special Minimum Wages under Section 14(c) of the FLSA , Akron, OH.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will offer a free seminar in Akron, Ohio to assist employers and community rehabilitation programs (CRPs) in complying with Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Guardians and family members of workers with disabilities are invited and encouraged to attend as well. There is no fee to attend this conference; however, space is limited. If you wish to attend, please follow the registration prompt. You will receive a confirmation email once registration is complete. Aug 16 US DOL Informational and Outreach Forum, Richardson, TX.
Six US DOL agencies are hosting this major event. It is designed to promote public access to federal agencies and to increase the public's awareness of the DOL's mission. This Forum is free and open to the public. The attending agencies will host several workshops and informational sessions. The OFCCP will present a workshop for federal contractors or potential contractors to offer a wide and general overview of compliance with OFCCP regulations. Panelists will discuss their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of emerging technologies, cloud computing and mobile applications in the workplace. Panelists include Kathleen Martinez, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy; Vint Cerf, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google; Jim Tobias, President of Inclusive Technologies.
Aug 16 Web Chat with ILAB on FY 2012 Solicitations for Grant Applications, Washington, DC.
The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) will host a web chat on Thursday, August 16 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. (EDT), to answer questions about the agency's fiscal year 2012 Solicitations for Grant Applications. The web-chat, which is text-only, will include a discussion (questions and answers) on the solicitations for cooperative agreement applications for the following: • Partnership to Reduce Child Labor and Forced Labor in Imported Agricultural Products (SGA 12-04). • Project to Combat Child Labor in Areas of Liberian Rubber Production (SGA 12-05). • Project to Combat Child Labor in Cambodia (SGA 12-08).
