The Mine Safety and Health Administration will host the 2011 Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Pre-shift Rules Mine Rescue Contest in Beckley, W.Va. Mine rescue contests are designed to test the skills of mine rescue teams in a simulated emergency (such as a mine fire, explosion or cave-in) so that, in the event of a real mine disaster, they will be ready and able to respond.
