Event Name: Pathways to Respecting American Indian Civil Rights Training & Education
Description: The Pathways to Respecting American Indian Civil Rights Training & Education conference brings together Native Americans with agencies, organizations and educational institutions with the vision of removing barriers that inhibit and omit Native American participation, promoting civil rights, and providing widespread outreach to empower Native Americans. Educators, advocates, service providers and community leaders will discuss issues such as health care, employment, education, environmental justice and nutrition as they pertain to Native American communities. OFCCP will present a workshop to highlight OFCCP’s outreach initiatives and Executive Order 11246, Section 503 and VEVRAA, as amended. Participating taskforce members include: the EEOC, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Civil Rights Division, U.S. Dept of Education Office for Civil Rights, the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, U.S. Department of Labor OFCCP, Colorado Civil Rights Division, Denver Anti-Discrimination Office, and the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Equity Assistance Center. Professor Elizabeth Cook-Lynn, Professor Emerita of English and Native American studies at Eastern Washington University will be the keynote speaker.
