Health Benefits Laws Compliance Assistance Seminar If you are an employer who is trying to comply with federal and Texas state laws regarding your health plan, this is your chance to talk to both federal and state regulators at the same time, in the same place. Feb 10 , 2015 White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Region 3 Interagency Working Group Webinar on Workplace and Workers’ Rights Please join the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD), and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for a webinar on workplace and worker’s rights. During the webinar, participants will learn about: (A). OSHA’s efforts to ensure safe and healthy workplaces and information on employee rights, employer resources, and compliance. (B). Various Whistleblower Statutes that have been delegated to OSHA, what is considered protected activity in order to be afforded protections of the Acts, and how to file a complaint. (C). The labor laws that WHD enforces, how to file a complaint with WHD, and what information will be helpful or should be available when filing a complaint. (D). The employment discrimination laws that the EEOC enforces, how to file a charge with the EEOC, and the timeframes for filing a charge. Philadelphia PA OSHA
Feb 25 , 2015 Town Hall Meetings to assist nuclear weapons workers Representatives from the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) will participate in two town hall meetings in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to notify current and former nuclear weapons workers about the benefits available to them under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). Survivors of qualified workers also may be entitled to benefits. The town hall meetings are being hosted by the Joint Outreach Task Group, of which DEEOIC is a member. Staff from DEEOIC's Seattle district office and Espanola resource center will also be available at the town hall meetings to assist individuals with the filing of new claims under the EEOICPA and to provide claimants with status updates on their existing EEOICPA claims. Feb 3 , 2015 WHD Presentation on Labor Standards in Agriculture The Wage and Hour Division will give an agricultural presentation, including the provisions under the Migrant and Seasonal Agriculture Worker Protection Act, Fair Labor Standards Act/Child Labor, and H2-A to chile growers, processors, and producers at the Annual NM Chile Conference. The annual conference is hosted by New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute and features practical solutions for chile growers, the latest advances in chile research and industry trends. The conference runs 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and the WHD presentation is at 10:30 a.m. Las Cruces NM WHD
