May 30 , 2013 OFCCP - Nuts and Bolts of Construction Evaluations and Best Practices for Minority/Female Utilization Goal Attainment The Baltimore District Office will host a seminar for construction contractors about their equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and recordkeeping obligations. The event will also emphasize the importance of effective outreach and recruitment efforts by contractors. Community-based recruitment sources will provide information on how they can assist contractors with their outreach efforts, supporting diversity and an inclusive work force in the construction trades. Jul 18 , 2013 OFCCP-" Empowerment Session" on Developing AAPs for New and Small Supply and Service Contractors and Outreach Best Practices for a Diverse/Inclusive Workforce The Baltimore District Office will host a seminar for new and small supply and service (nonconstruction) federal contractors about the components of written Affirmative Action Programs (AAPs), as required by Executive Order 11246, as amended, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended. The event will emphasize the importance of effective outreach and recruitment efforts by contractors. May 24, 2013		 Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health Meeting OSHA will hold a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) in Washington, D.C. ACCSH, established under the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, advises the secretary of labor and assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health on construction standards and policy matters. The full committee agenda includes remarks from Dr. David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health, and updates from the Directorate of Construction. In addition, the committee will consider six items from the proposed Standards Improvement Project IV and discuss occupational exposure to beryllium, two possible technical amendments and corrections to the Cranes and Derricks standards, the Federal Agency Procurement Construction, Health and Safety Checklist, and the two-hour introduction to the OSHA 10- and 30-hour training courses. May 23 , 2013 ETA – Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Pre-Applicant Virtual Conference The U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department and Education invite you to attend a live virtual conference on May 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This session will highlight important focus areas for the third round of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant program including employer engagement, capacity building, and innovative service delivery. In the last two years, the Labor Department has awarded $1 billion in grants to over 600 colleges and universities working to expand and improve training opportunities by strengthening local and regional partnerships. Approximately $474 million is currently available through the third round of TAACCCT funding announced on April 19, 2013. This conference will feature current grantees and nationally-recognized experts who will share their experience and expertise and highlight importance changes to the third round requirements.
