Federal Agency Training Week (FEDWEEK) OSHA will conduct a three-day training event for federal agency staff responsible for workplace safety and health issues. The training will provide information needed for keeping federal workers safe and healthy on the job. The OSHA Training Institute, in collaboration with OSHA's Office of Federal Agency Programs, will conduct a series of half-day seminars that cover heat stress, fall protection, health hazards outlined in OSHA's National Emphasis Programs, electrical hazards and other topics. Aug 7 , 2014 Free Seminar: Emphasis on wage requirements for workers under Section 14(c) of the FLSA The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will offer a free seminar in Columbia, SC on August 7, 2014 to assist employers and community rehabilitation programs (CRPs) in complying with Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Guardians and family members of workers with disabilities are invited and encouraged to attend as well. There is no fee to attend this conference; however, space is limited. EXCEL – Examining Conflicts in Employment Laws EEOC’s 17th Annual EXCEL Conference (Examining Conflicts in Employment Law) has a three day training program designed exclusively for private sector and state and local employers covering a wide range of EEO topics. The training seminar which is being held in San Diego begins by presentations by Myrlie Evers-Williams (former Chair of NAACP) and EEOC’s Chair Jacqueline Berrien. OFCCP Director, Patricia Shiu will present an OFCCP update and focus on how OFCCP and EEOC are working together to end wage discrimination. Jul 30 , 2014 Stakeholder Meeting to Consider Proposed Standard to Protect Safety, Health of Emergency Responders OSHA issued a Request for Information on Sept 11, 2007, that requested comments from the public to evaluate what action, if any, the agency should take to further address emergency response and preparedness. Recent events, including the West, Texas, explosion that killed several emergency responders, and additional information gathered in response to the RFI show that responder health and safety continues to be an area of ongoing concern. The meeting will not include formal presentations but instead will be conducted as a group discussion.
