Sep 23 , 2014 Town Hall Meetings to assist nuclear weapons workers Staff from the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) will host two town hall meetings in Amherst, New York, to present information about the medical benefits provided to approved claimants under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). The town hall meeting presentations will begin at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. DEEOIC's Cleveland district office and New York resource center staff will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to assist individuals with the filing of new claims under the EEOICPA and provide claimants with status updates on their existing EEOICPA claims. The compliance officers/presenters will explain the process from the receipt of the scheduling letter to what happens during the onsite. This venue allows federal contractors an advance opportunity to prepare and understand the desk audit and onsite portions of the evaluation process. Oct 2 , 2014 Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Veterans' Employment, Training and Employer Outreach (ACVETEO) The ACVETEO is a Congressionally mandated advisory committee authorized under Title 38, U.S. Code, Section 4110 and subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. App. 2, as amended. The ACVETEO is responsible for: assessing employment and training needs of veterans; determining the extent to which the programs and activities of the U.S. Department of Labor meet these needs; assisting to conduct outreach to employers seeking to hire veterans; making recommendations to the Secretary, through the Assistant Secretary of Labor for VETS, with respect to outreach activities and employment and training needs of Veterans; and carrying out such other activities necessary to make required reports and recommendations. These sessions offer small businesses the opportunity to market their capabilities directly to OSDBU and agency program officials and learn about potential Department procurement opportunities. Conversely, Department procurement officials can learn more about the diverse small business resources available to meet their procurement needs. Department of Labor agencies buy a wide variety of goods and services valued at approximately $2.2 billion each year.
