Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health Meeting OSHA will hold a meeting of the Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health in Washington, D.C. The MACOSH agenda will include discussions on surface preparation and preservation in shipyards, shipboard refrigeration systems, pedestal crane safety on commercial fishing vessels, preventing chassis drivers from jostling in the cab in marine terminals, the accuracy of declared container weights, baggage handling in cruise terminal operations, review of the 2010 International Maritime Organization annex, "Guidance on Providing Safe Working Conditions for Securing of Containers on Deck," and log handling safety. MACOSH was established to advise the secretary of labor through the assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health on workplace safety and health issues in the maritime industries. Oct 22 , 2014 Stakeholder Meeting on Improving OSHA’s Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory Program OSHA has scheduled an informal stakeholder meeting to gather information on how the agency can increase the effectiveness of its Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory Program. The meeting will focus on the use of the private sector to improve timeliness and efficiency of the NRTL recognition process, certification marks, factory and field inspections, and other topics if time permits. Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee Meeting OSHA will hold a meeting of the Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C. WPAC was established to advise and make recommendations to the secretary of labor and the assistant secretary for occupational safety and health on ways to improve the fairness, efficiency, effectiveness and transparency of OSHA's whistleblower protection activities. The tentative agenda includes remarks from Dr. David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health; discussion of committee and work group reports; invited reports from other agencies or the public regarding whistleblower enforcement; administrative business and public comments.
