EXCEL – Examining Conflicts in Employment Laws EEOC’s 17th Annual EXCEL Conference (Examining Conflicts in Employment Law) has a three day training program designed exclusively for private sector and state and local employers covering a wide range of EEO topics. The training seminar which is being held in San Diego begins by presentations by Myrlie Evers-Williams (former Chair of NAACP) and EEOC’s Chair Jacqueline Berrien. OFCCP Director, Patricia Shiu will present an OFCCP update and focus on how OFCCP and EEOC are working together to end wage discrimination. DOL Wage and Hour officials, OSHA officials, EEOC Commissioner Chai Feldbum and EEOC General Counsel David Lopez will also be presenting. Representatives from EEOC, DOL, Office of Special Counsel, NLRB and private sector attorneys will also address the government’s guidance on using arrest and conviction records, pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, national origin and immigration related discrimination, and social media litigation. Aug 19 , 2014 Technical Assistance Workshop for New Federal Contractors and Small Federal Contractors The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Seattle District Office will host a FREE Technical Assistance Workshop and Local Resource Fair for New Federal Contractors and Small Federal Contractors on August19, 2014. The event is designed to provide practical and useful information to develop an Affirmative Action Plan and learn about the new changes to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act. The workshop will be followed by a local resources fair in partnership with Washington Vocational Services. Both events are free to all federal contractors and community based organizations.
