Please note: The Department of Labor ended the drug-free workplace program in 2010. Accordingly, it does not currently administer a “Workplace drug testing” advisory web page and is not responsible for the content of the linked sites.

Program Builder Main Menu

A comprehensive drug-free workplace program includes a clear policy, employee education, supervisor training, an Employee Assistance Program and drug testing. (Remember that drug testing is only one part of a drug-free workplace and is not a required component in many work sites.) The Program Builder includes a section on each of these components. Although you may not choose to include all of these components, it is recommended that you review all sections when developing your program.

Unless you already have a policy in place, you should begin by developing your policy. The policy sets the tone and forms the foundation of your program. You can customize the other components of your program by choosing options and sample documents provided in the employee education, supervisor training, Employee Assistance Program or drug testing sections of the Program Builder.

To begin, select any of the following components:

Policy Development
Supervisor Training
Employee Education
Employee Assistance Program
Drug Testing
