Determining Coverage for Individuals with Grants

This grant is covered by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

Regardless of dollar value, all grants received from the Federal government are covered by this Act.

The Act requires that all individual grantees include a clause in their application or agreement that states they will not engage in unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance in the performance of the grant.

By signing an agreement for a contract or grant with the Federal government, you agree to comply with the requirements of the Act.

A grantee who fails to comply with the above requirements faces certain penalties.

Although all contracts and grants to individuals are similarly covered, some contracts awarded to organizations may not be covered. Also, requirements for covered organizations are more extensive than for individuals.
