OSHA Lead in Construction Advisor

Results of your Session with the OSHA Lead in Construction Advisor

Public Release Version 1.0
Date: 4/5/2025
Customized Report

The Advisor does not automatically save the results of each session. If you want to retain the results of this session, be sure to print or save them prior to exiting.

This report presents information on occupational safety and health in response to your answers to the Advisor's questions. It briefly describes OSHA regulations that may apply to your situation. However, the Advisor DOES NOT determine compliance with OSHA standards, nor is it able to identify ALL of the actual or potential hazards in your workplace.

You have selected this choice to learn more about the exposure assessment requirements of the Lead in Construction Standard (1926.62). The Lead Advisor will assume that you have worked through the choice on "Guidance on Coverage" above and determined that:

1)

You are an employer subject to OSHA regulations.

2)

You are covered by the Lead in Construction Standard.

3)

You know or believe it is likely that lead is present at the work site.

4)

Your employees will be engaged in construction work in areas where lead is present at the worksite.

If the above statements are not true, you should rerun the Advisor and select "GUIDANCE ON COVERAGE" on the Specific Guidance Menu, otherwise, select "Continue".

Obligation to Make Initial Determination

If your workplace or operation is covered by the Lead in Construction Standard, you must make an initial determination concerning whether any employee may be exposed to lead at or above the action level.

You must determine employee exposure levels based on full-shift, personal air monitoring samples.

Each full-shift personal sample you collect must be representative of the regular daily exposure pattern of the employee being monitored.

The Lead in Construction Standard defines employee exposure as that exposure that would occur if the employee were not wearing a respirator. You are not permitted to adjust air monitoring data to account for the protection provided by respirators when determining whether employees are exposed to airborne lead.
