Many companies that have a contract or subcontract with the Federal Government are required to annually report their affirmative action efforts to employ protected veterans. This report is submitted using form VETS-4212. The requirement to file form VETS-4212 is mandated under 38 U.S. Code Section 4212, codified at 41 CFR 61-300. The VETS-4212 filing season begins August 1 and ends September 30.
The VETS-4212 Report Advisor was developed to help companies determine if they need to submit this form and, if yes, understand the process for doing so. It was developed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) in collaboration with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy (OASP) and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Data reported through form VETS-4212 is used by OFCCP in Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) compliance evaluations.
The VETS-4212 Advisor is one of a series of elaws (Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses) Advisors developed by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to help employers and employees understand their rights and responsibilities under Federal employment laws.
