FLSA - Child Labor Rules

Since your child is 16 years old or older, he or she may work on any farm. Your child may work during school hours, even when school is in session. Sixteen year-olds may work on any day, for any number of hours-and in any farm job.

In fact, there are even some dangerous jobs that your 16- or 17-year-old child may do that 14- and 15-year-olds may not perform. These dangerous jobs are listed on the next page so that you are aware of them and can encourage your older child to work safely if he or she is assigned to do any of these jobs.
