FLSA - Child Labor Rules

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 14 is the minimum age for working, except for working in agriculture. Because the youth you are interested in is 13 or younger, he or she may not work unless one of the exemptions in the FLSA applies. However, the youth still is able to help a neighbor with yard work, or do some babysitting, since those jobs are not covered by the FLSA.
