FLSA - Child Labor Rules

Because you are 12 or 13 years of age, you may only work in agriculture on a farm if you have written permission from your parents, or your parents are working on the same farm.

If either of these is true, you may work on the farm but only work during hours when school is not in session.

Also, there are some dangerous jobs that you may not do. The Secretary of Labor has found that these jobs are too hazardous for anyone under 16 years of age to perform. These dangerous jobs are listed on the next page.
