Administrative Employees

One requirement for exemption as an administrative employee is that the employee's primary duty of office or non-manual work be directly related to the management or general business operations of his or her employer. The work performed by the employee must be directly related to assisting with the running or servicing of the business. For example, employees working in areas or departments such as accounting, marketing, human resources, labor relations, research or quality control generally perform work related to management or general business operations.
