Administrative Employees
One requirement for the highly compensated administrative exemption is that the employee customarily and regularly perform one or more duties or responsibilities that are directly related to the management or general business operations of his or her employer. Such duties or responsibilities must be directly related to assisting with the running or servicing of the business. For example, employees in areas or departments such as accounting, marketing, human resources, labor relations, research or quality control generally perform duties or responsibilities related to management or general business operations.
Customarily and regularly means a frequency that must be greater than occasional but may be less than constant. Tasks performed customarily and regularly include work normally and recurrently performed every workweek; it does not include isolated or one-time tasks.
