Understanding FMLA Entitlements

The FMLA allows eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for up to a total of 12 workweeks in any 12-month period for certain family and medical reasons and up to 26 workweeks in a single 12-month period to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness.

Knowing the employer's 12-month leave year is important to understanding the amount of FMLA entitlement available.
